2024년 한국문화예술위원회 올해의 신작 선정작인 오페라 칼레아 부탈소로의 오케스트라 편곡 버전이다.  작곡가 이지은은 오케스트라를 위하여 오페라 전곡을 편곡하였다. 오페라의 세계초연을 연주한 지휘자 정금련과 미네르바 심포니 오케스트라에 의해 한전아트센터에서 연주 녹음되었다. 오페라 칼레아 부탈소로 주제에 의한 AQUARIUS QUANTUM은 물과 우주, 생명과 순환, 행성의 움직임, 충돌과 부활을 통한 또 다른 세계로의 탄생을 음악에 담고 있다.

This is an orchestral arrangement of Opera Kalea Butalsoro, which was selected as the Korean Arts Council's Best opera selection the Year in 2024. Composer Jieun LEE arranged the entire opera for orchestra. It was recorded at KEPCO Arts Center by conductor Gum Ryeon CHUNG and Minerva Symphony Orchestra, who performed the world premiere of the opera. AQUARIUS QUANTUM, based on the theme of the opera Kalea Butalsoro, is about water and space, life and cycles, planetary movements, and the birth of another world through collision and rebirth

한국 오페라의 위대한 지휘자 정금련 - conductor Gum Ryeon CHUNG
지휘자 정금련은 (1962년 3월22일 서울출생) 오페라 전문 지휘자이다. 서울대학교 음악대학에서 이성균 교수 클래스에서 피아노를 전공하였고 지휘자 박은성교수께 지휘를 배워 오스트리아 빈국립음대 지휘과에 진학하였다. 지휘자 Otmar Suitner 와 U. Lajovic 클래스에서 오케스트라 지휘를 Günter Teuring 교수에게 합창지휘를 Harald Görtz 교수에게서 오페라코치를 배워 Mag. Art 학위를 받고 졸업하였다. (논문 : 윤이상 오페라 심청으로 본 윤이상의 음악어법) 청소년기의 문학과 연극 그리고 음악의 관심은 자연스럽게 대본이 있는 오페라에 집중하며 귀국후 서울시 오페라단 주최 리하르트 슈트라우스 장미의 기사를 시작으로 서울예술의 전당 주최의 윤이상 심청. 마술피리 . 피가로의 결혼. 라보엠. 리골렛또 . 파우스트의 겁벌 등 국립오페라단과 바그너의 파르지팔. 대구오페라하우스 .성남문화회관 . 부산무화회관에서 오페라코치와 지휘자로 활동하였다. 북경대학에서 이건용 오페라 봄봄를 지휘하였고 이태리 밀라노 엑스포 기념 글룩의 오르페오 지휘하며 해외 오페라 공연에 참여하였다. 텔레만의 오페라 미리바이즈부터 현대 오페라 윤이상의 심청 그리고 창작 오페라에의 여러곡을 접하며 여러 시대별 작곡가들의 드라마를 표현하는 작곡 형식과 텍스트를 표현하는 음들의 아티큘레이션 움직임을 표현하는 다양한 음악적 내용들에의 관심을 갖고 대본과 음악이 요구하는 섬세한 표현을 관객에 전달할수 있도록 집중하고 있다. 오페라 칼레아 부탈소로를 통해 우리시대가 처한 여러 환경과 기후위기에 관심을 갖게되었다. 나 하나가 아닌 우리들의 문제임을 여러나라 언어들의 사용과 표현 그리고 다양한 민족 문화의 소재들로 표현되고 이지은 작곡가의 지루할 틈이 없이 전개되는 음악적인 표현은 작가의 텍스트와 함께 공연을 준비하는 내내 큰 원동력이 되었다. 오페라 공연과 더블어 한양대. 경희대.성신여대. 가천대. 대구가톨릭대. 동의대. 한국예술종합학교에서 강의하며 후학들의 교육에 힘쓰고 있다.

Gum Ryeon Chung (born 22 March 1962 in Seoul) is a conductor specializing in opera.

She majored in piano at the College of Music of Seoul National University under Prof. 
Sung-kyunLee and learned conducting under Prof. Eun-seong Park. She then went to the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna to study orchestral conducting under Otmar Suitner and Uroš Lajovic, choral conducting under Günter Theuring, and opera repetiteur studies under Harald Görtz, graduating with a Magister degree.
(Thesis: Study of Isang Yun’s musical diction based on the opera Sim Tjong) Having taken an interest in literature, theatre, and music from an early age, Chung has developed her musical path with a focus on opera, an art genre based on literary works. After returning to Korea to further pursue her musical career, she served as a conductor and repetiteur for many operas including Der Rosenkavalier (Seoul Metropolitan Opera), Sim Tjong, Die Zauberflöte, Le Nozze Di Figaro, La Bohème, Rigoletto, La damnation de Faust (Seoul Arts Center), Parsifal (Korea National Opera), and works presented by Daegu Opera House, Seongnam Arts Center, and Busan Cultural Center. For performances outside Korea, Chung conducted the opera Spring Spring by Geon-yong Lee in Beijing, China. In Italy, she performed Orfeo ed Euridice by Christoph Willibald Gluck in celebration for the 2015 Milan Expo.

Spanning from baroque operas including Georg Philipp Teleman’s Miriways to contemporary works such as Isang Yun’s Sim Tjong, Chung’s musical expertise focuses on artful interpretation of the musical forms of composers from different eras as well as musical articulation of texts to elaborately deliver every detail of each artistic piece. Opera KALEA exposes the audience to the environmental circumstances faced by the current world, highlighting the idea of climate change in a universal context with versatile linguistic and ethnic elements. Along with the script, the compelling composition written by Ji-eun Lee has served as a great source of delight and inspiration for Chung in preparing the performance. Aside from her career in the opera world, Chung has also dedicated herself to educating music students at many different schools including Hanyang University, Kyunghee University, Sungshin Women’s University, Gachon University, Daegu Catholic University, Dongeui University, and Korea National University of Arts.

미네르바 심포니 오케스트라 - MINERVA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
미네르바 심포니 오케스트라는 2024년 장용성 대표에 의해 창단 되었다. 비올라 연주자로서 깊은 경험으로 바탕으로, 장대표는 지휘자로서의 열정을 실현하고 단원들과의 교감을 통해 오케스트라를 설립하였다. 베토벤, 브람스 등 위대한 작곡가 시리즈 연주를 비롯해 전국 투어와 기획 연주를 통해 오케스트라 음악을 전하고 있다. 관객들에게 감독과 기억에 남는 공연을 선사하는 것을 가장 큰 목적으로 하고 있다.

MINERVA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Minerva Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2024 by Mr. Yong Sung Jang. Based on his deep experience as a viola player, Mr. Jang realized his passion as a conductor and established the orchestra through communication with the members. The orchestra has been performing a series of great composers such as Beethoven and Brahms, as well as national tours and special performances. The main purpose of the orchestra is to provide audiences with supervised and memorable performances.
