●  Cellist Kyungmi anna LEE’s word

I didn't know if the sea was hurting. I would like to let you hear the sea of cello music shining from your toes as the ebb and flow of the tide shines from your toes. It is difficult for me to extend my personal feelings of pain to the ocean, nature, and ecosystems. This is especially true for me, who has been deeply immersed in music all my life, especially the cello. Through this album, I am once again thinking about the cycle of the earth, humans, and ecosystems. The grand discourse of rising sea levels is naturally overshadowed by the current problem of Life & Food.

My music won't be forced. As another ecosystem of music, I would like to speak metaphorically. The ocean is dying. The sea groans and stands on the cliff... There's another human standing on that cliff... On planet Earth, we are all organically connected. But one life is hurting another. Haven't we always forgotten that human beings are the greatest destroyers of all? If your cello sounds even lower and more sonorous today, I hope you will remember it as a day to reflect on the nature and ecosystem around you. Classical music will be a wave that can be interpreted for a million reasons.

She received a special award at the Colin County Concourse and performed with Plano Symphony. She was recognized for her performance internationally by winning No. 1 prize at the Dallas Symphony Festival Concourse and No. 1 prize at the Juanita Miller Concourse hosted by the Texas Symphony Orchestra. New England Conservatory St. Botolph Hall, Brown Hall, Seoul Arts Center, Kumho Art Hall, Pohang City Hall, Seoul National Orchestra, Sevastopol Symphony in Ukraine, Cherniochi Orchestra, USP Chamber, Cheongju Symphony, Seoul Pops Orchestra, Seoul Symphony, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, and Seoul Symphony Orchestra.

It communicated harmoniously with many performers and added the depth of interpretation and performance of the music. In addition, she not only excelled as a classical musician, but also recorded many songs as a solo cellist in many dramas and film productions. In February 2024, she recorded Lilium coeli among the Irresistible Scent albums for the production of Art Farm LK.

● Introduction to music

The main melodies of the opera Kalea Butalsoro (libretto by Kim Jaechung, music by Lee Jieun), which is based on the theme of the future and the sea, have been recreated to fit the album's theme consciousness. The creators of the opera and the original soloists who have performed the opera want to convey the theme of "our oceans are dying" through music. The footprints of penguins crossing the polar regions, the Pacific Ocean crying with the gestures of waves and typhoons, the whispers of pain from the sea, and the legend of the escape of creatures living in places beyond the reach of human eyes amid pollution and encroachment were wanted to be conveyed through music. The vanishing coral reefs in the sea are all the fault of humans. I tried to capture the voices of marine creatures like butterflies in a submarine in a simple and unadorned cello & piano classic. The groans from the distant ocean were meant to remind us that we are all creatures of planet Earth. In the music that is not forced, I wanted to remind you of the desperate environment of today.

Initiative by classical music artists to respond to the climate crisis

Our oceans are dying.     Producers Jaechung KIM, Jieun LEE

The classical Music are not overrun by contemporary art, where time differences are meaningless. It does not define progress in the name of novelty, thus acknowledging its own obsolescence. The infinite transience that oxidises at the fingertips of the performer on the stage becomes eternal, so that moments and ephemera become rather eternal in memory and emotion. Classical music is not music that is consumed intensely and therefore quickly forgotten; it is an art of self-consciousness that summons the past into the present and is fully dedicated to the future of humanity and life. In the process of creating contemporary classical music, and in every moment of its performance, the question of art and humanity is posed, and the answer is always in the process of being found.

In this way, classical music conveys a sense of cyclical unity, where questions become answers and the process becomes a question. If music is a vast ocean, then the artist is like an organism in the ocean, giving meaning and fulfilling a function. The process of creating and performing classical music has no substance and no need for substance, which makes it less contentious and more about expressing a strong sense of consciousness. Music is an art of sound waves and that's how it communicates to the individual creatures in the ocean. We are all musical beings, creatures that inhabit a musical contemplation. The waves of music cause all living things to revisit questions and answers, and the sense of oneness expands endlessly as consciousness, so classical music is naturally eternal. The expanded consciousness further expands the scope of art, multiplying itself through questions, and its influence continues the process of reproduction, expansion and circulation without rumour, without infringement. The time and order of the ecosystem is actually deeply embedded in the structure of the classics. However, it is not the essence of modern classical music to capture the conditions of the times and actively embrace the environment of the times. On the contrary, classical music is the essence of time. It is an eloquent, careful and highly sensitive response to the conditions of our time, expanding artistic consciousness through a process of questioning and answering. Our oceans are dying. Through the cyclical wave of classical music, all the artists on this album are activists. Sea creatures who continue their secret escapades in a polluted environment and, like butterflies in a submarine, have nowhere to go. May the legend of the labyrinth live on, untaxidised. Through the unifying wave of classical music, we call upon all to join us. Join us now, as best you can.

Listen to the whisper of the sea.
