Counter tenor Heesang LEE, who sang MAGNA Z4 in the world premiere of THE OPERA KALEA BUTALSORO, is the voice of Sea god alongside the robot in 2187.
His exceptional voice as a countertenor was fully utilized in the opera to convey the message of fantasy to nature and humans.
His unique aura shone through in the opera, along with his distinctive voice.

전 세계인의 스포츠 축제였던 2018평창 패럴림픽 폐회식 무대에서 경이롭고 호소력 짙은 음색의소유자라는 평을 받으며 찬사를 받았던 Countertenor 이희상 은 Korea National University or Arts Voice(성악과) 개설이래 최초로 전액장학금을 받으며 조기 수석으로 졸업을 동 대학원인 리트&오라토리오과를 우수한 성적으로 졸업하였다. 그 후 프랑스 명문 사립음악원인 Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris 에선 Diplôme Éxecution을 만장일치 수석으로 졸업하였다.
국내 재학시절 45회 동아 음악 콩쿠르에서 전례 없는 심사위원 전원 만장일치로 특별상을 수상하였고 한미 음악 콩쿠르 1위 광주 성악 콩쿠르에서 3위로 입상하였다. 오스트리아 비엔나 벨베데레 국제 성악 콩쿠르에서 최연소 입상을 시작으로 캐나다 몬트리올 국제 성악콩쿠르 이태리 베로나 국제 성악콩쿠르에서 입상하였다.
그는 국립합창단을 비롯 유수의 국내 시립합창단에서 솔리스트로 초청 받았고, 국립오페라단 <Le Nozze di Figaro> 서울시 창단 30주년 기념작인 몬테베르디 <Orfeo>초연을 비롯 <A Midsummer Night’s Dream>, <Die Fledermaus>, <Orfeo ed Euridice>등 오페라 주역으로도 왕성한 활동을 하였다.
또한 Bruce Adolphe 음악극인 <Tough Turkey in the Big city>을 아시아 초연, Mauricio Kagel 오페라 <Mare Nostrum>을 아시아 초연 등 현대 작품에서도 두각을 나타내고 있다. 서울 예술의 전당 기획공연에 초청공연과 국내 최고의 오케스트라인 서울시향과 KBS 교향악단에서 초청받아 그의 뛰어난 음악성을 인정받고 있다. 특히 2010년 베를린 필 수석들과 함께 전쟁기념관에서 열렸던 유엔 참전용사 60주년 기념음악회와 외교통상부 초청으로 한미60주년 기념음악회를 뉴욕 링컨센터, 워싱턴 D.C 케네디센터에서 공연해 국제적인 아티스트로서 기반을 다지게 되었다. 그의 예술 활동은 클래식영역 뿐 아닌 뮤지컬 <황진이> 영화 <손님은 왕이다>, <디워> SBS 창사특집 <미래의 희망 남극>등에서 녹음을 대한민국 발레축제에 초청받아 발레와 협업 작업과 국립 현대 무용단 초청받아 협업 작업도 함께 하였다. 그는 개인 음원인 1집 <환타지>, 2집<엘레지>,싱글앨범 <Music for a While>,과 <Nostalgai part.1>, <마중>, <섬집아기>를 디지털 싱글 음원으로 출시하였고 국제기아대책 본부에서 주최한 헌정앨범에 국제 아동을 위해 재능 기부를 하기도 하였다. 2025년 새로운 앨범 출시 될 예정이고 현재 전문연주자로 활동 중이다.
Countertenor Heesang Lee, who had been celebrated for his astonishing and appealing voice at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Pyeongchang Paralympics, a global sports festival, graduated with a remarkable grade from the Korea National University—from which he had also earned his undergraduate diploma as an early graduate with Summa Cum Laude and the first student ever to receive full scholarship—as a Lied & Oratorio major. Aftwerwards, he also graduated Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, a renown French private music school, by passing the Diplôme Éxecution with a unanimous Summa Cum Laude.
During his studies in Korea, Lee was rewarded a special awards at Donga Music Concours with an unprecedented unanimous support from the judges, alongside a first place in Korean-English Music Concours and third in Gwangju Vocal Concours. Marking his international debut at the Belvedere Singing Competition as the youngest award winner, he was also awarded at Concours Musical International de Montreal and at the International Vocal Competition at Verona.
Lee was invited as a solist at leading domestic municipal choirs including the National Choir, performed as lead roles of operas such as <Le Nozze di Figaro> by Korea National Opera. <A Midsummer Night’s Dream>, <Die Fledermaus>, <Orfeo ed Euridice> as well as at the premier of <Orfeo> by Monteverdi, which was a performance celebrating the 30th anniversary of Seoul City—proving himself a prolific artist.
Furthermore, Lee is prominent in his knack in modern works as well, as he performed at the Asia premiers of <Tough Turkey in the Big City>, a musical play by Bruce Adolphe, and <Mare Nostrum>, an opera by Mauricio Kagel. Invited at Seoul Arts Center, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and KBS Symphony Orchestra to perform, his musical talent is also widely known to public.
In particular, his performance at the 60th anniversary concert for UN veterans held at the War Memorial in Berlin at 2010 and the performance at a concert held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for the 60th anniversary of U.S-South Korea relationship have been recognized and invited by the Lincoln Center in New York and Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., establishing his reputation as an international artist.
His artistic activity spans not only within the classics but also in diverse fields, including performing at the musical <Hwangjini>, voice acting in the film <The Customer is Always Right>, <The War>, <The South Pole: Hope of the Future> (a special feature series celebrating the company), and also collaborating with ballet performances of the Korean National Contemporary Dance Company at the Korean Ballet Festival.
His first album, “Fantasy”, followed by his second album “Elegy”, his singles “Music for a While”, “Nostalgia Part 1>, <Greetings>, and <Island Baby> were released as a digital single. Also, he donated his talents to international children by releasing a tribute album hosted by the Food for the Hungry International. His new album is to be released at 2025, and he is currently active as a professional performer.
